What is Probationary Angel?
A Two-Act Stage Comedy by Lori Beach
Probationary Angel is an original two-act comedy about second chances, unexpected friendships, and discovering that even the smallest acts of kindness can change a life.
When newly deceased Mark Langston unexpectedly finds himself recruited into the Department of Human Relations as a probationary angel, he quickly discovers that helping others is far more complicated than he imagined.
Armed with good intentions, questionable timing, and a supervisor determined to keep him out of trouble, Mark begins a journey that is equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and surprisingly human.
Filled with memorable characters, genuine laughter, original music, and moments that linger long after the curtain falls, Probationary Angel reminds us that sometimes the greatest miracles aren't spectacular at all—
they're simply people choosing one another.
Sometimes the people who need the most guidance are the ones assigned to give it.

Probationary Angel received its original production at the Red Barn Playhouse in Malone, New York, where the story came to life through a volunteer community theatre cast and crew.

Developed in a Real Community Theatre
The original production proved that the world of Probationary Angel could be created with practical staging, adaptable scenery, pre-recorded music, and the creativity of a dedicated volunteer team.
Across its original run, audiences responded with laughter, applause between scenes, and standing ovations—confirming what the production team had hoped from the beginning: beneath the angels, paperwork, questionable advice, and celestial mishaps was a story audiences genuinely connected with.
